Monday and Tuesday were not of note, just know I was very busy and very tired from starting my clinical residency.
Wednesday followed the same motif as Monday and Tuesday, however, after I got off work (I've been working a few hours after my residency to make a little extra cash) I went to Kyra's house. Me and her got some Burger King and it was okay - I really liked BK's Loaded Jalapeno Burger, so I thought I would try the chicken sandwich variant, which was decent but kind of gross. Anyways, me and Kyra watched a Trap Lore Ross about Young Thug (I think), I started nodding off from being so wore out and I decided to rest my eyes. Me and Kyra snuggled for a while and it was really nice - she was very warm in a good way. At 8:22 PM, I decided I was gonna rest my eyes until 8:30ish when I would leave (Kyra was asleep and I wanted to let her rest for a little longer), but I ended up falling asleep until 9:30 PM. Once I woke up, I let Kyra know I was leaving (she was very much still asleep but told me bye) and I headed out. Once I got home, I talked to my mom for a little bit and then went to bed.
On Thursday, I worked a full day. I watched Closer (2004) and 500 Days of Summer, I thought 500 Days was okay and was a little goofy and Closer was a little too serious for my taste but it was something to watch. My friend Will has reccomended me Sarah Kane a few times and I might try to watch some of her plays when I get the chance. Anyways, after I got off work I went to Silverdale. Earlier that day I had borrowed Erik's bass because Seth had recorded some piano for one of the new album's songs and Seth had said the bass was a little out of tune although once he sent the isolated piano track and I combined the two tracks, the whole song sounded really good.
Once I got to Silverdale, I talked to Seth and Josiah for a little bit and Seth went upstairs to play D&D whilst me and Dave worked on some music. The song sounded really good with Seth's piano but me and Dave added some really cool percussion to the song - Dave played a mini-gong and a Mickey Mouse Drum from GoodWill and I played Erik's acoustic bass with a toothbrush (not used) for a shaker sound; I've pasted a quite handsome picture of Dave with his percussive ensemble:
After last week's blog entry, I was quite ready to finish the song we were working on. One of the great things about actually recording a song where the lyrics are about something depressing (but not too depressing) like a breakup is that once you write the song and most of the feelings towards the subject matter have disappetated, the actual song itself becomes a mostly fun experience of recording. Songwriting is in a lot of ways is a way to heal through different things, however I do think I am getting tired of writing breakup songs and anecdotal songs - I think I have wrote enough of them. I'd like to write more songs with like philosophical points and storytelling.
I have put some thoughts into a name change for the band. The name "deaththreads" comes from the same idea I present in world's best dad, where something normal or typically positive is turned sad by the surrounding context: Used Baby Shoes; Never Worn, A "I'm Going to Break This Mug When The Cancer Is Gone" mug in a GoodWill, bumper stickers on a totaled vechicle, literally any graphic t-shirt a person wears during a negative life changing event (I think this last one is something in the same as a term like "Lynchian" but in a completely different lane), etc., etc.. I think I've exhausted this sort of idea and I'd like to do something else, although I think I may reupholster this sort of idea in a different lyric context and I think I would use the name "deaththreads" for a possible split ep with Dave's solo project. Also I still have one more deaththreads album in me, but I really like the name "michaelradio.online." Michael Radio seems more representative to my willingness to references and making stuff up whilst I think having (essentially) a website url as an artist name is really interesting. Someone once said about my use of the Telepathic Judas webpage for the Telepathic Judas album, "I wouldn't call what you're doing an ARG because it transcends certain mediums. I wouldn't compare it to what Kanye did with his album art either because the Beatles did the exact same thing in the sixties with the White Album's cover. Blank album covers bring interpretation. Album art that implements websites is a different thing altogether." The next logical step seems to be the url as an artistic identity (although this has been done before).
After recording, me, Seth, and Dave went to El Bandito and saw some beautiful heat lighting. We all had a very good chat and I dropped them off at Silverdale. Seth sent me the song whilst I was driving home and it sounded good - I think we need to take some of the extra chair squeaking noises out and bring the second verses gong and second chorus percussion down and the piano down a hair and we'll be good to go on that song. Once home, I went to bed.
On Friday, I worked a full day and caught up on my YouTube Watch Later playlist. I also listened to my buddy Erik Wood's new album Grimpyus, the album is amazing and I highly encourage any readers to check this album out. Erik writes these songs that are adventurous and go places in the same songs from Brian Wilson's SMiLE does. My favorite songs are Muse of the Loon and Prefigurate. Dave and Seth's production is very good and it's so impressive how all three of them put this album together. The drums on Muse of the Loon sound beautifully spacious and the tempo change in Prefigurate makes the song sound both tight and wonky and perfectly represents the whimsical nature of the song. The song "A Horse Named Better," has great lyrics such as: "I got so mad, I had to take a nap", and the title phrase "a horse named Better," is very interesting. Overall, I really liked this album.
After work, I came up and saw Kyra. She did her makeup and she looked very beautiful. She wore these cute shoes and it made her look like a doll; it was very wholesome. Me and her went up to the show and I talked to all sorts of people. The show was nice; Erik's set was awesome. Erik is geniunely the nicest person I've met (alongside Kyra), he geniunely loves without judging. His set was great - Erik, Dave, Seth, and Hank are all great musicians and I watched in awe during the whole performance. I recorded their last song and posted it on my YouTube (linked here.), I highly reccomend my readers checking it out.
After the show, I talked to Al Cardwell, who is one of the most talented musicians I've met - I really liked his songs on BandCamp, although I do need to relisten to the albums. Al and Dave were talking about jazz music and it was a really good convo to listen in on. From here, Dave gave me a copy In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, which I am very excited to read.
Whilst saying goodbye to everyone, I ended up meeting a kind fellow that we'll D-Dog, I'm sure he wouldn't care to be mentioned in this blog, but I haven't asked yet. He's a cool guy and I'm really excited to get to know - he's a cool feller into the same sorts of philosophy and music I am too so I'm looking forward to our friendship. Between him and Al, I did fairly well with making friends and networking. Me and Kyra left and I dropped her off. I got home at 11:00PM. I played Minecraft until 1 AM.
Saturday morning I woke up and read a little bit. I also took a nap while Kyra went horseback riding. I got Kyra some flowers while heading up to her house and me and her relaxed for a little bit before taking a nice drive to Diary Queen. Once me and her got home it was about 9:30 PM, Kyra was wore out from the horseback riding and we went to bed.
This morning I woke up at about 5 AM and then went back to bed while Kyra got ready for work. Once I was getting ready to take Kyra to work, I ended up wearing Kyra's bunny pajamas which are cute (they're normal pajama pants that fit me well, just with these cute realistic bunnies and ribbon printed onto the pajama pants), one thing I love about Kyra is that me and her are the same height and we can swap clothes - she has a lot of cool SmokeDope2k16 and other rappers merch that I larp with, since I do not know very much about rap (atleast not much as I'd like to know), for example, I have just started listening to NBA Youngboy. I listened to two creepypastas this morning (both are about 20 minutes), one was "The Creeping Horror," which was okay for a story (which means it was good for a creepypasta) and the other is a story that I won't name since I don't want to spoil my writing project for the next album.
Once home, I got ready for church and then went to church. Church was okay and then I went to my dad's. Their was a party at my dad's and it was okay. I felt a little isolated, which is normal, but I talked to my dad mostly which is what is important. From here, I drove home and I tried to take a nap and it failed, I think this failed nap is what caused my slight depression.
It's now 8:27PM, I plan on reading a tiny bit and facetiming Kyra. Please wish me luck this week because it will also be very busy.
