It is currently 9:17 PM. I am not looking forwarded to the scope of stress I will endure this week. The stress itself mostly relates to college work, but I will get through it. A professor for one of my education courses said that I wrote "a very well done lesson plan," which I am grateful for. I had band practice today, everyone is wore out and tired from playing shows all year and learning so many covers. I hope Blue Shell gets this EP out over our break after playing shows, they're good songs and they deserve to be heard. I am currently watching a history of Neofolk which is really well done and drinking a Whiteclaw and writing this.
On Monday I wrote the blog for last week and I watched a lot of Slimebeast videos. Slimebeast is the guy who wrote the creepypasta, Abandoned by Disney. His stories are very good and he's a very influential figure in the world of creepypastas; he writes in this style that's a little silly but well executed and incorparates little mysteries within overarching quirky storylines. The Abandoned by Disney series is simply a masterpiece of creepypasta as a genuine literary genre. I used to post my awful creepypastas on his old website TooSpooky when I was 12 or 13. I have linked an archive here. He's a very good person as well, I say this because his youtube videos which typically overview his criticism of people such as MrCreepyPasta, Creepsmcpasta, Plagued Moth, and a handful of other not so great people and he is able to articulate his arguments in a strong way that allows the listeners to understand and also think of their own point-of-view and what makes their position morally sound and responsible and why it is morally sound and responsible in an intelligent but digestible way. I won't go into much detail other than that, because I'm sure I would get something wrong, but I reccomend his videos and stories and streams as they are really great. I have linked my favorite video of his right here. I'm sure that's not the best introduction to Slimebeast without knowing the context of creepypasta as a genre and some of the ins and outs of the greater internet horror community, so to cap off the Monday section I will requote this pretty powerful quote Slimebeast said about the current state of creepypasta:
"I will say, however, being an old POS from the Fool's Golden era of creepypasta kind of feels, I guess, like gross nowadays. Not because the stories were bad, but because everything was just... like bought and sold in the most cringe and pointless ways.
Creepypasta.com hasn't been owned by a creepypasta fan for nearly a decade now. It's owned by a domain name hoarder who uses it solely as a content mill for advertising revenue. Effectively, everyone's stories were sold to this guy for $100,000, so he could profit from them without a single author's approval.
Slender Man is owned by Sony, who made the most abysmal, out-of-the-loop, cookie-cutter fart of a horror film, and now it will most likely never see the light of day again and will just be kept on their shelves gathering dust.
Candle Cove and No End House, a couple of classics, are currently owned by Max Landis someone who was cancelled so hard that a number of people know him solely from his cancelling nothing more is going to happen with those stories unless he sells the rights.
The author of 1999 falsely copyright struck a ton of videos including reviews of his story allegedly because he wanted to sell the story as a book and didn't want the wrong version available on the web. Like, dude didn't even ask people to take it down, he just went straight to striking people.
Vincent Vinacava tried to trademark the word creepypasta for his exclusive use, directly asking the web for legal advice on how to protect it from others, cutting everyone else out in the community.
JC the Hyena, the creator of Sonic.exe, is notorious for going batshit ding-dong boingo-bingo nuts over where and how his work is shared, even going so far as to freak out if it's removed from wikis.
[Slimebeast mentions the allegations certained towards MrCreepyPasta and CreepsMcPasta here, however I've redacted them here incase some of my readers would find the mention triggering. I encourage readers to research these allegations at their own discretion.]
What I'm saying here, I guess, is that of all the horrible downer endings in the world of creepypastas, none could compete with real life."
- Slimebeast, The Man Who Stole Jeff The Killer
On Tuesday, nothing much of note happened. I listened to Nexpo's Disturbing Things From Around The Internet series whilst working. It's a good series, I have a fond memory of me working on some guitar bullsh-t whilst that series was playing at my dad's old house.
On Wednesday and Thursday, nothing of note really of note happened other than doing school work and regular work.
On Friday I had a show. I left work at about 1PM and headed to K's since she was going with me. I was very excited to see her, I had not seen her all week. She's very pretty and I love her voice, she also has this welcoming precense that I'm so enamoured with. She got ready for the show and then we went to this Deli she used to work at and she loved that. She said Hi to all her old coworkers and it was fun. We drove to the show and we started to set up. My buddy Aaron from Strait Jacket Productions was running sound and a lot of the guys from the band No Place Else were there as well, so I had a lot of fun. Another group of guys I really enjoyed seeing the Dreamkiller276 guys, the whole band is so nice to me and I hope to play another set with them soon.
I soundchecked at 6:50 PM, I brought my bass amp (which also sounds fine with guitar) for my Yamaha FS-800 acoustic guitar. I have a soundhole cover, nylon strings, and a pretty decent piezo pickup installed in my guitar - however I was still nervous about the feedback issues that are all too common with piezo pickups. Luckily I am awesome at working on guitars and Aaron is awesome at sound, so there was no issues with feedback or anything of the sorts in regards to my guitar. Anyway, I played the show and it went well. I was slightly more nervous than usual, however those who wanted to stay stayed and those who wanted to go elsewhere went elsewhere, which is good. I'm not super big on demanding attention. I handed out these questionnaires about my set which is a funny bit I do and then finished my set with my song, “song for ur dog” from Telepathic Judas. From here me and K watched a couple other cool bands and then we had to leave. We arrived home around 10:50 PM and I spent the night at her house. I woke up at about 11:54 PM to a Caseoh Minecraft Stream.
Yesterday was Saturday and I went to my mom's at about 8 AM, I spent the day practicing guitar and bass and playing Minecraft until I went to K's again for Valentine's Day. I had given her a pretty cute Valentine's Day proposal the day prior and it went well. Me and her went to this pottery place, however it was very busy. Me and her then went to my dad's. My dad was making Lasagna and we were going to work on my guitar. Me, K, and my family all had a good time except for the brief period of time where me and my dad routed too big of a chunk from my pickguard and I became upset. I was just frustrated, and I'm sure I was upset about a lot other things (school, work, etc.) but I was quickly able to readjust that frustration and enjoy my time with my dad. K had a very good time talking to my family and really seemed to enjoy watching Nascar with my family. Me and her left around 9 PM and once I came home, I played Minecraft and went to bed.
It is now 11:52 PM, I am very sleepy. I am going to post this on the website and then go to bed. I fixed the chunk of empty material from my pickguard with a piece of black cardboard from an old notebook (I cannot think of a better way to articulate what I am talking about.). Hopefully me and Dad will begin woodstaining the actual guitar body next weekend, but if not I'm not too worried. I was able to test the electronics for the guitar today and they work great, the only thing I need to do is sand some of the cardboard cover this week. I am going to bed, please wish me luck this week. God bless.
